Child Labour is an event arc that is triggered by the passage of both Child Labour - Safe Jobs (Law) and Child Labour - All Jobs (Law). This arc results in an injury and potentially a death or child workers requiring double rations.

Child injured at work[ | ]

Child Labour - Child injured at work

The arc begins after you employ a child in a safe workplace. The child will get injured.

A child got distracted at work and has been injured. The accident was not serious and happened entirely due to the child's carelessness.

You have the following options:

  • Give this kid a day off: This child won't work for 24 hours. Hope will rise slightly.
  • Scold this kid for being careless: Hope will fall slightly

A protective mother[ | ]

Child Labour - A protective mother

Regardless of your decision in the first event, this event will trigger next.

A mother has refused to let her daughter go to work, afraid she'll get injured. We could look the other way this time, but others might see it as unfair.

You have the following options:

  • Let her have a day off: This child won't work for 24 hours. Hope will rise slightly.
  • We won't make an exception: Nothing will change

Double rations for kids[ | ]

Child Labour - Double rations for kids

Regardless of your decision in the last event, this one will trigger next.

In the wake of recent child worker's accident the parents argue that we could give working children double rations to make them stronger and help prevent injuries.

You have the following options:

  • Good idea: Working children will eat double rations. Hope will rise.
  • No, we can't afford it: Nothing will change.

Choosing to give working children double rations will permanently double their food consumption for the rest of the run. They will no longer have accidents when working in safe workplaces, and the risk of accidents in unsafe workplaces (workplaces they can only work in after Child Labour - All Jobs (Law) is signed) will be decreased. Because the decision only applies to working children, unemploying a child will allow them to be satiated by the regular amount of rations.

Child crushed by a machine[ | ]

Child Labour - Child crushed by machine

This event will trigger after the passage of Child Labour - All Jobs (Law) and the employment of a child in a workplace that law allows.

There's been an accident! A child worker's been trapped and badly injured inside a machine. We have to stop the entire facility if we want to have a chance of saving the kid.

You have the following options:

  • Keep working: Child will probably die. Hope will fall.
  • We must try to save this child: Facility will be inactive for 8 hours. Hope will rise slightly.

Child worker rescued[ | ]

Child Labour - Child worker rescued

If you chose to try to save the child, there is a possibility this event will trigger next.

We managed to get the child out of the machine alive, although gravely wounded. Let's hope that this kid will recover fully.

You have the following options:

  • What a relief: Hope will rise slightly.

The injured child has died[ | ]

Child Labour - The injured child has died

If you chose to try to save the child, there is a possibility this event will trigger next. The child will die.

We failed to get the child out alive. The wounds inflicted by the machine were too severe. We did what we could, but it wasn't enough.

You have the following options:

  • I must inform the parents

People will not forget[ | ]

Child Labour - People will not forget

If you chose that people should keep working, this event will trigger next. The child will die.

An improvised shrine has been put up where the child worker was killed. People left a few memorial tokens on it - a tin horse, a sweet bun, a small glove. Someone scrawled CHILD KILLER in big, red letters on the machine in which the kid died.

You have the following options:

  • Let people grieve: This facility will work at 50% efficiency for 24 hours.
  • Put this place in order!: Discontent will rise. Hope will fall.
  • Send guards to clean the machine: Nothing will change.
