Iron Ore Deposits are non-constructible locations that contain Steel. The only way to extract Steel from these locations is to build Steelworks at the designated markers that surround the Iron Ore Deposits. Iron Ore Deposits provide an essentially limitless amount of Steel.

Steelworks are the only way to extract Steel from Iron Ore Deposits. They cannot be manned directly, nor will Gathering Posts gather steel from them.
It is technically possible to mine out the entire Iron Ore Deposit in A New Home, however for general gameplay the node is considered unlimited.
